Complicating the process, to simplify the outcome

Language adaptations are time-consuming and honestly a bit boring. So instead of just going with it, I tried changing directions to find a more efficient way of doing them – which is, of course, easier said than done.

But, in the end, the boredom of repetition led to a procedural setup. An animation you only have to build once. After that, you just link it to the Excel sheet that the client gave you and hit render as many times as needed.

It’s saved many hours of work, and the best part is that it’s reusable. The same template I built for VELUX I can use for other projects too, speeding up our language adaptation workflow across all projects.

I was told this was a low-budget motion graphics, so no art director would be assigned. The script was aproved, and a few ideas for the overall flow were in place, but the animation was up to me. Giving the freedom to approach it, however I wanted.

Of course, there was some back-and-forth with the copywriter and the accountant, but overall I was largely responsible for taking it from script to final animation.
